Paragon Software Group (PSG) develops bilingual and monolingual dictionaries using unique Slovoed technology for 35+ world languages including Chinese, Japanese, Thai and some other unique ones, which comprise quite a number of characters and hieroglyphs. Dictionaries based on Slovoed technology have become problem solvers for the users, who, let's say, are learning Chinese, but are native speakers of English. Paragon Software Group (PSG) takes care of their customers and strives to provide the best user experience. That's why we integrated proprietary PenReader handwriting recognition in most of its apps. The history of PenReader handwriting recognition technology begins in 1968, when a group of Russian scientists has established the idea of machine recognition of handwritten text and worked out the fundamental Zenkin-Petrov's recognition algorithm.
This algorithm underlies the first and the most primitive handwriting recognition instrument "Optical Correcting Recognition Universal System" (OCRUS). This tool was used to recognize ancient Tibetan text automatically and convert it into the digital format for further scientific analysis. While a user is writing with his fingertip on a touchscreen, behind the scenes PenReader is doing a great job - it collects and analyzes the coordinates of the finger movements, then converts the data into print characters. Sounds easy, doesn't it? But in fact this work is unbelievably resource-consuming. PenReader calculates about 5630 execution paths to get the most precise coordinates and performs 66852 statements to convert these coordinates into print-like text. Moreover PenReader has its own specific set of recognition rules for 34 languages and this list continues to grow. Moreover PenReader has its own specific set of recognition rules for 34 languages and this list is constantly is being populated.
Paragon Graphometric Tool (PGT) measures a wide range of individual handwriting characteristics and parameters. These parameters such as letter width, height and inclination, pen pressure etc. can be subjected to further analysis for a range of purposes, including determining whether or not a piece of text was written by a particular individual. Paragon Graphometric Tool (PGT) is based on graphometry, the science of determining constants in handwriting. PGT is capable of processing both plain text (e.g. scanned copy of a paper with handwriting text on it) and dynamic text (e.g. the text data collected using a range of mobile devices or graphics tablets). Proper handwriting is taught to children from an early age, and our individual style continues to develop over the years. Each person has his or her own unique way of writing, which can be decoded through handwriting analysis. Paragon Graphometric Tool (PGT) immediately determines constants in handwriting and provides full, detailed data on requested parameters.
PGT is now available to any organization involved in handwritten analysis, including clinics, research labs, forensic or criminal analysts, profilers of missing or dead persons, law enforcement agencies and other organizations.
PenReader SDK allows you to integrate the handwriting recognition module into any existing software, future projects, or even for the purpose of creating a brand new app, with handwriting recognition on board. PenReader SDK is a cross-platform solution and can be easily adapted to almost any technical requirements. Basically, PenReader SDK consists of recognition engine .dll file built on C++, set of header files, sample codes, API, manual, and all needed support information.
Paragon Software Group is proud to announce that the company was recognized for its advanced technologies and progressive solutions in the digital world. Our handwriting recognition software for iOS "PenReader" received IT Innovation Award from Initiative Mittelstand and was named "Best of 2016" in the Apps category. We are honored to be acknowledged for our innovative thinking and will continue to strike for the best and create the future!
